Class 5: Writing Newspaper Articles

Class 5: Writing Newspaper Articles

If you are asked to write a newspaper article in your exam, follow closely the format below:

HEADLINE
(should be short and catchy, do not write in a full sentence)

City (eg. Kuala Lumpur, New York, London, etc) - The first paragraph is a one sentence summary of the entire article.

The second paragraph provides the details. Elaborate the 'how's and 'why's here. If you are writing a long or complicated news article, you may want to organise your details in more than one paragraph. You may have a third or even a fourth paragraph but remember to keep within the 220 word limit for your exam.

The final paragraph is the concluding paragraph and should include final details indicating the future direction of the issue at hand.

-------------------------------------

Buy a copy of your local newsaper and look at few of the news articles. You should be able to recognise the format above.
