Lesson 6 - Plot

Lesson 6 - PLOT

Today, we're going to talk about plot. Plot basically means what happens in the story.

Generally, a good story has five parts:

1. Introduction or Beginning

Here, you should introduce the setting, the main character(s) and the main conflict/problem in the story.

2. Build-up or Rising Action

This is where you make the problem/conflict bigger or more intense so that your story becomes more interesting.

3. Climax

This is the most exciting part of the story. The conflict is at its most intense and desperately needs a resolution.

4. Resolution or Falling Action

Here, the problem gets solved. Make sure you take your time to solve the problem and that the solution is believable.

5. Final Outcome

What happens to the characters at the end of the story? Is it a happy or sad ending?

HOMEWORK 6

I will not be setting any homework for this lesson. However, I will be posting some student essays on this site over the next few days so that you will be able see the five parts of plot more clearly.

Do come again soon!
